FOOD WASTE TREATMENT PLANTS

The fully automatic system makes work efficient, easy and hygienic. The transport is based on vacuum technology, and consists of local macerator units and one “One way pump unit”. Local macerator units are equipped with waste hoppers and local operation panels. Vacuum is generated by a special pump and the collected food waste (particle size less than 10 mm) is then stored in the holding tank. From the holding tank the food waste can be pumped into the dewatering unit. Tank is also equipped with outlet connection for vacuum truck emptying. Stainless steel system. Stainless steel material makes it easy for maintaining good hygienic level. Stainless steel is also long lasting material and can be easily modified for future demands. Stainless steel hoppers of local macerator units can easily be integrated in the existing kitchen tables because they are same material.

Vacuum principle

In the macerator the vacuum is sucking the material, unlike from the disposer system where gravity is conveying the material. In case of a leakage in a traditional disposer system the slurry is spraying out from the piping, making hazardous hygienic situations especially in the galley areas and making harm to the insulation, the decorative etc. and spreading unpleasant odours to public areas.

50% less water consumption

The need of water is minimised. Water is only added beginning and end of the maceration process. Waste collection hopper is ergonomically and safety designed. The waste hopper leaves more “space” for the galley/pantry design, and allowing a more effective production process to be carried out. The hoppers are equipped with a safety switch to ensure that there is no risk to get a hand in when the system is running.

The macerator system is highly hygienic
In fact it cleans itself, only the tabletops are needed to be manually cleaned. The used detergent is the same as in dishwashing machines and if requested a centralised dispensing system could be used.

Simple solutions – more flexibility for kitchen design
Vacuum transportation gives a lot of advantages for design. With the vacuum transportation in use pipe routing can be horizontal or vertical and upwards or downwards. Together with small pipe diameter this gives flexibility to place local macerator units where normal gravity system can not be connected. This is important especially when existing kitchen are under modification.

Special push fitting piping is easy to install without any need of welding or other fire work
Also, the air-tight holding tank system can easily be placed in narrow places because the holding tank can be emptied with its own pump or with a vacuum truck. In both cases the outlet connection can be placed far from the tank itself.

1- Collection hopper can be installed on the kitchen table and locates place where the food waste is generated
2- Macerator macerates food waste from the hopper into small particles which together with a small amount of water are vacuumed in the vacuum piping.
3- piping is made of stainless steel push fitting parts. Piping can go upwards, downwards, horizontal or vertical depending of the best routing. In cas of leakage, vacuum sucks air inside the piping and nothing comes out.

4- special vacuum pump generates vacuum in the pipe line only when it is needed. If the system is not used, then the piping is in atmospheric pressure. This saves energy.
5- stainless steel holding tank volume is selected separately in every case to optimize space requirements. There are options to empty the tank with vacuum truck or pump collected food waste in the dewatering unit.
